Brazil AI adoption could add R$ 986.7 billion to GDP by 2030
A study by Reglab, commissioned by OpenAI, estimates that artificial intelligence could add approximately R$ 986.7 billion to the Brazilian GDP between 2027 and 2030. This represents a cumulative gain of 2.77% of the GDP, or an average annual increase of 0.69 percentage points.
The economic impact is expected to be driven largely by human productivity, which accounts for 65% of the total gain. The manufacturing sector is projected to experience the highest impact at R$ 264.2 billion. In contrast, the agricultural sector's gains are expected to be 92% driven by capital investments such as drones and smart equipment.
Beyond economics, the integration of AI in Brazil presents diverse societal challenges and opportunities. In the healthcare sector, the Unified Health System (SUS) is working to modernize through the National Network of Intelligent Hospitals and High Precision Medicine. Meanwhile, the political landscape faces risks from deepfakes and disinformation, prompting the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) to consider regulations for the 2026 elections. Additionally, municipal governments, such as Rio Verde, are already utilizing AI chatbots to manage public services, resolving 40% of citizen demands without human intervention.
