AI cycling training plans face errors as Samsung unveils health assistant
Artificial intelligence can generate a cyclist's training schedule within seconds, but the technology may misjudge training load, recovery needs, health status and misinterpret user‑provided data. Errors arise when users input incorrect availability, outdated power thresholds, or omit injuries, leading the AI to prescribe volumes that are either too high for those returning from inactivity or too low to stimulate adaptation. A study of GPT‑4‑generated exercise prescriptions highlighted gaps for clinical profiles, underscoring that expert supervision remains essential.
Samsung introduced its Health Assistant Beta on 21 July 2026, initially available to eligible users in the United States. Integrated into Samsung Health, the assistant combines data from sleep, activity, nutrition, mindfulness and vital signs to produce a composite "Energy Score" and offers conversational explanations. For cyclists, the tool aims to clarify how factors such as insufficient sleep, altered heart rate and accumulated training load affect readiness, suggesting adjustments to intensity or recovery. The feature is not yet announced for Spain.
