AI Data Center Demand Drives Growth in Power Infrastructure and MLCC Markets

The rapid expansion of artificial intelligence (AI) data centers is driving significant demand for advanced power infrastructure and high-capacity electronic components. As AI servers require higher computing power and increased energy consumption, the importance of stable power conversion and voltage stabilization is rising.

SoluM is expanding its business into the AI data center power infrastructure sector. Leveraging its existing power module technology, the company is preparing to enter the market for DC-DC converters used in Battery Backup Units (BBU) for next-generation AI racks. Analysts suggest SoluM is currently a candidate for supply to five major global Cloud Service Providers (CSPs).

Simultaneously, the value of Multi-Layer Ceramic Capacitors (MLCC) per rack is expected to rise sharply. According to Morgan Stanley, the MLCC component value for Nvidia’s next-generation ‘Vera Rubin’ AI accelerator platform is estimated at $4,320 per rack, a 182% increase from the ‘Grace Blackwell Ultra’ platform. This surge is driven by the need for high-capacity, high-reliability components to manage increased power demands.

Samsung Electro-Mechanics, a leading global MLCC manufacturer, is positioned to benefit from this trend. The company holds over 40% of the market share for AI server MLCCs and has secured several long-term supply agreements (LTA) totaling approximately 2.39 trillion KRW for MLCC-related contracts.
