AI-developed cancer vaccine shows success in Australia

Australian entrepreneur Paul Conyngham has utilized artificial intelligence to develop a personalized mRNA cancer vaccine for his dog, Rosie, who was diagnosed with mast cell cancer in May 2024.

After standard chemotherapy and immunotherapy proved ineffective, Conyngham used AI tools including ChatGPT, Gemini, and Grok to analyze gigabytes of genomic data. Working with scientists from the University of New South Wales (UNSW) and the Garvan Institute in Sydney, the team performed DNA and RNA analyses to identify specific tumor mutations. This data enabled the design of a custom mRNA vaccine.

Following the first injection in late 2025, the treatment resulted in a 75 percent reduction in tumor size within three months, allowing the dog to exceed its original life expectancy. The breakthrough has drawn interest from OpenAI CEO Sam Altman.
