AI developers launch new tools to combat deepfake threats
Researchers and technology companies are developing new methods to combat the rising threat of highly realistic deepfakes. At EPFL, scientist Touradj Ebrahimi is utilizing Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs) to create a system where one AI generates images while another learns to detect them by identifying minute inconsistencies.
In a separate development, 0G Labs has unveiled Veyra, an AI verification tool designed to analyze videos frame by frame. Developed by PlayArts, the tool detects subtle artifacts in lighting, texture, and motion to determine if content is real or AI-generated. To address the “verifier trust problem,” Veyra uses a blockchain-anchored approach, committing cryptographic proof hashes to the 0G Chain to create an immutable, auditable record of authenticity.
