AI discussion focuses on driving social impact in Brazil
During the 6th Positive Impacts Meeting held at FIAP in São Paulo, experts discussed the role of artificial intelligence as an accelerator for the new impact economy. The panel, featuring representatives from Sebrae-SP, Cubo Itaú, and Artemisia, addressed the distinction between achieving operational efficiency and generating measurable social or environmental transformation.
George Affonso Ferreira of Artemisia noted that while AI can effectively reduce costs and increase margins, the resulting economic gains must be intentionally directed toward making services more accessible or reaching excluded populations to create true impact. The discussion highlighted the difficulty of measuring impact in sectors like health and education, where results may take years to manifest, often clashing with the pressure for short-term indicators.
