Regional security incidents: Revolut data breach and rising fraud cases

Various criminal activities and security incidents have been reported across the region. In the financial sector, Revolut confirmed a data breach where sensitive client information, including identification documents and transaction histories, was released to an unauthorized party following a fraudulent request.

In the Czech Republic, several fraud cases have emerged. Scammers used impersonation tactics, posing as police officers or bank employees to steal over 100,000 CZK via remote computer access. Another significant investment scam, involving both cryptocurrency and a fake romantic relationship facilitated via TikTok and WhatsApp, resulted in losses totaling approximately 1.8 million CZK.

Physical crimes also persist, including the theft of electric bicycles from a hotel in Český Krumlov and the vandalism of the grave of opera singer Soňa Červená in Hradec Králové. Additionally, experts are warning businesses about the rise of AI-driven voice impersonation used to facilitate fraudulent business transactions.
