AI risks rise in tax compliance and enterprise cost management

Tax consultants at Think People are warning Romanian taxpayers about the risks of using AI chatbots for fiscal guidance. Experts Ioana Dragu and Alida Dragotă note that while AI provides rapid responses, it often lacks the necessary context regarding bilateral tax treaties and specific local regulations.

In one instance, a taxpayer relied on AI regarding a foreign broker, mistakenly believing taxes were automatically withheld. This resulted in a tax assessment four to five years later, including interest and penalties totaling 55%. Another case involved incorrect assumptions about Irish dividends, where the AI failed to account for specific tax credit recognition between Ireland and Romania.

Separately, in the enterprise sector, DVT is addressing the rising complexity of LLM tokenomics. As generative AI moves into business operations, managing the cost, latency, and performance of tokens—the fundamental units of AI processing—is becoming a critical discipline for corporate governance and architectural decision-making.
