AI energy trading solutions advance in China's power markets
Chinese energy technology firms are advancing the integration of artificial intelligence into electricity trading to manage the complexities of modern power systems.
GCL Energy Technology introduced a comprehensive AI energy trading solution designed for new power systems. The solution utilizes a product matrix covering coal, gas, thermal, wind, solar, storage, and electricity sales. It aims to move electricity trading from single-point intelligence to full-scenario coordination across different power types and markets. The company reported that its AI services have managed a trial volume of 200 billion kWh and currently operate across 23 provinces in China.
In a separate development, Huidian Technology, a subsidiary of GoodWe, launched Megatron, described as the world’s first L4-level autonomous electricity trading agent. Unlike traditional AI tools that only provide suggestions, Megatron uses a multi-agent architecture—consisting of one global commander and six specialized expert agents—to handle the entire trading loop from market analysis and strategy generation to execution and review. The system has undergone real-world verification with a major electricity sales enterprise in Anhui province, significantly reducing transaction processing times.
