AI evolution reshapes cybersecurity landscape and training needs

The rapid evolution of artificial intelligence is fundamentally altering the cybersecurity landscape. AI has lowered the barrier to entry for cybercrime, enabling attacks that previously required months of skilled effort to be executed in minutes. In some instances, autonomous AI-driven attacks have occurred with minimal human involvement.

Due to these shifts, industry experts are emphasizing business resilience over mere prevention. Ryan Kratz, Head of Cyber for North America at MSIG USA, noted that because of AI, it is nearly impossible to avoid all attacks, shifting the focus toward how organizations respond to and recover from incidents.

In response to these evolving threats, educational initiatives are emerging to build specialized skill sets. North Metropolitan TAFE in Australia is offering a 10-week course focused on Cyber Threat Intelligence with AI. The program teaches students to identify threats within network logs and use AI tools to support investigations and professional reporting.
