Latin America accelerates AI adoption and infrastructure investment

Artificial intelligence adoption is accelerating across Latin America, driven by significant corporate investment and infrastructure development. A Lenovo and IDC study indicates that 97% of regional organizations plan to increase AI investments, with an estimated annual growth of 14%. In Chile, 45% of companies are already utilizing AI, a 29% increase from the previous year, with startups leading the transformation at a 64% adoption rate.

Major tech entities including OpenAI and Amazon Web Services (AWS) are targeting multi-billion dollar investments in data centers in Argentina and Chile, leveraging the renewable energy potential of regions like Patagonia. However, this expansion has raised concerns regarding the region becoming a “testing laboratory” for AI, particularly concerning the use of surveillance software by companies like Palantir in countries such as Ecuador.

The economic landscape is also shifting; AI firms now represent over half of the startups securing their first venture capital rounds in the region. While Brazil remains a major hub for talent and market size, companies like the French consultancy Artefact are aiming to quintuple their regional revenue by 2030. In Brazil, HostGator has invested R$ 10 million to integrate AI tools to assist non-technical entrepreneurs in establishing digital presences.
