AI experts discuss the future of education in Africa

Experts in artificial intelligence, ethics, and governance recently convened at the University of the Witwatersrand to discuss the impact of AI on education across Africa. Hosted by Aashna Jain, CEO of AITHOS, in collaboration with the Wits Machine Intelligence and Neural Discovery (MIND) Institute, the roundtable focused on the theme “AI in Education: Shaping the Future of Learning in Africa.”

The discussion highlighted the role of women in shaping AI technology and addressed four primary themes: the evolution of classroom teaching and future skills, the tension between expanded access and deepening inequality, student readiness for AI-driven workplaces, and the necessity of robust ethics and governance frameworks to ensure responsible adoption in learning environments.
