A viral image depicting an elderly couple in underwear surrounded by hooded figures on a Paris street has been proven to be created or manipulated using artificial intelligence. The image circulated widely on social media platforms like X following unrest on October 17, being presented by various accounts as evidence of violence during national protests.

Detection tools, including Google’s SynthID, identified digital watermarks indicating the use of AI tools such as Gemini or OpenAI. Visual inconsistencies, such as a woman having only four fingers and an individual appearing to have two heads, further confirmed the image was not authentic. The Paris prosecutor's office stated they had received no reports of such an incident.
