AI-Generated Music Artists Generate Millions on Spotify and YouTube

A PlayersTime analysis of 70 AI‑created musical acts on Spotify and YouTube shows the emerging market is already highly profitable. The top‑earning project, "mikeeysmind," amassed an estimated $2.27 million from 514.7 million streams, including a viral AI cover of Stromae’s "Papaoutai." Other AI artists such as Breaking Rust (country‑style) and Xania Monet (R&B/Soul) each generated close to $1 million, with 90.2 million and 68.5 million streams respectively.

The study finds YouTube drives visibility and community building, contributing roughly $3 million in revenue across the cohort, while Spotify remains the primary source of direct monetisation, accounting for about $7 million from the ten most‑played tracks per artist. Spotify is also preparing a new AI‑based music‑creation feature in partnership with Universal Music Group and Merlin, signalling further commercial integration of generative AI in the streaming ecosystem.
