AI-generated videos falsely depict Nepal flooding disasters

Videos circulating on social media claiming to show a bridge collapsing and a village street being destroyed by flooding in Nepal and Tibet are AI-generated.

Analysis using the Hive Moderation detection tool rated one clip as 100% likely to be AI-generated and another at 97.2% likelihood. Visual glitches identified in the footage include people and vehicles vanishing without debris, unrealistic human behavior during the collapse, and objects like buildings or trees appearing and disappearing as the camera pans. Other indicators include oversized motorcycles and sudden red boxes appearing in the frames.
