AI Governance Initiatives Launch in Spain's Universities and UN Global Compact for Businesses

The Andalusian Network of University Ombudsmen organised a two‑day conference at the University of Almería to examine how artificial intelligence impacts higher education. Participants from across Spain discussed data‑protection concerns, algorithmic bias and the use of AI in teaching assessment, with vicerrector Maribel Ramírez noting that “artificial intelligence is rapidly transforming multiple aspects of university life.” The event produced recommendations for university bodies and will be shared with the national conference of university ombudsmen.

Separately, the UN Global Compact released a new “Responsible AI Navigator” on its Academy platform. The tool offers member companies courses on AI and human‑rights standards, responsible investing in AI, and the sustainable business potential of generative AI, aiming to embed ethical, transparent practices in corporate AI adoption.
