AI hiring fraud drives Indian firms and tech providers to revamp recruitment processes

Indian companies are confronting widespread use of generative AI tools in virtual job interviews, with a recruitment platform reporting that nearly one in three candidates employ AI assistance during live assessments. Firms such as Deloitte, Deutsche Bank, Meesho and Scaler are redesigning interview formats to focus on scenario‑based discussions, real‑time problem solving and continuous monitoring of candidate behavior. Measures include secure browser environments, video analytics and follow‑up questioning to detect polished but shallow responses.

In parallel, Canadian identity‑verification startup Nametag has launched "Recruit," a platform that verifies a candidate’s identity throughout the hiring pipeline, aiming to counter AI‑generated deepfakes, synthetic résumés and proxy workers. The solution integrates with systems like Workday, Greenhouse and Okta, delivering pass‑or‑fail results without storing biometric data and extending verification into onboarding and device access.
