AI hiring tools reshape job market, from UNF curriculum to global interviews
The University of North Florida has added a suite of AI‑focused courses—including Global Communication in the Age of AI, Content Creation and AI, and Advanced AI Literacy—to teach students how to navigate applicant tracking systems (ATS) and use AI tools responsibly in job applications. Faculty such as John Parmelee and Pieter de Jong advise students on resume formatting, keyword optimization, and the limits of AI‑generated content, emphasizing the need for human review.
Across the globe, companies report a surge in candidates using generative AI to write résumés, complete assessments, and even receive live prompts during video interviews. Gartner research indicates that nearly half of job seekers now employ AI at some stage of their search, with about 13% admitting to using chatbots in real‑time interviews. Employers say this blurs the line between genuine ability and AI‑assisted performance, prompting firms like Google and L’Oréal to redesign interview processes and create “AI‑free zones" to verify core skills.
