AI implementation challenges: Bridging the gap between strategy and daily use
Companies are increasingly integrating artificial intelligence into their business strategies, yet significant challenges remain regarding effective implementation and measurable returns. According to the ‘AI Readiness Index’ report analyzed by SAP Polska, while 70% of managers include AI in their departmental strategies, many organizations struggle with ‘dead subscriptions’—tools that are provided but not integrated into daily workflows. Approximately 34% of managers report a decline in initial interest in AI, and 30% note that tools are often used only sporadically.
To move beyond isolated successes toward repeatable processes, experts suggest focusing on organizational architecture rather than just technology. Key pillars for successful integration include establishing an AI committee with clear decision-making authority and ensuring strict data hygiene. McKinsey data indicates that executive oversight is the strongest correlate with AI’s impact on business results, yet only 28% of companies have an executive directly responsible for AI oversight. Furthermore, only 28% of managers currently analyze the return on investment (ROI) for AI implementations.
