AI implementation in German robo-advisory market

A study of 33 providers in the German robo-advisory market examines the gap between the marketing of artificial intelligence and its actual application in asset management. While AI is considered a key technology, many providers use terms like ‘smart’ or ‘intelligent’ without necessarily employing true learning systems, often relying instead on traditional financial mathematics.

The German robo-advisory market, which managed between 19 and 25 billion euros in 2025, is projected to reach 23 to 32 billion euros by 2026. Although the market is growing, it has not met previous expectations of annual growth rates exceeding 30 percent in the B2C sector. The industry is currently experiencing a trend toward consolidation, with assets increasingly concentrating among a few large providers.
