AI infrastructure and services see major expansion and strategic shifts
The artificial intelligence and cloud computing sectors are seeing significant infrastructure and strategic shifts. CoreWeave has announced plans to sell $3 billion in convertible senior notes due in 2033, with the potential to raise up to $3.5 billion. This capital is intended to expand data centers, power capacity, and computing infrastructure to support its growing AI business.
In Europe, the development of large-scale AI data centers is increasingly driven by energy availability. Countries such as France, Portugal, Finland, and Norway are attracting major planned AI campuses as developers seek sufficient electricity and connectivity. While traditional data center hubs remain in the FLAP-D markets (Frankfurt, London, Amsterdam, Paris, and Dublin), the need for grid access is reshaping the continent's infrastructure map.
On the software and services front, Napster is integrating more deeply into the Microsoft business AI ecosystem. By adding Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) support to its API, Napster allows AI agents to interact via existing business phone infrastructure. Napster CEO John Acunto noted that the company aims to help businesses capture and utilize proprietary data through AI agents, leveraging Microsoft Azure to reduce deployment friction.
Additionally, Xbox has patented a new system for in-game advertising. The technology aims to minimize player disruption by using a “promoted content hint” from the game itself, ensuring ads only appear during appropriate moments, such as loading screens or the end of a round. The system also includes a credit mechanism where players receive additional playtime after watching an advertisement.
