AI initiatives launch in Netherlands as investors warn of sector concentration
In the Netherlands, the AI Werklab has officially launched to help small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the Haaglanden region implement artificial intelligence. The initiative is a collaboration between the Province of Zuid-Holland, The Hague University of Applied Sciences, MKB Den Haag, and the municipalities of The Hague, Rijswijk, and Leidschendam-Voorburg. The program offers AI scans, expert task forces, and workshops to bridge the gap between theoretical AI and practical business application, while providing students with real-world experience.
Separately, investor Steve Eisman has raised concerns regarding concentration risks within the global AI sector. He argues that a significant portion of AI revenue for hyperscalers like Microsoft, Amazon, and Google is ultimately driven by just two players: OpenAI and Anthropic. Eisman warns that because these large language model (LLM) providers are currently loss-making, the stability of the entire AI supply chain—including hardware leaders like Nvidia—depends heavily on the continued growth and financial health of these two specific companies.
