AI integration drives efficiency in building management systems

Companies in the climate control and building management sectors are expanding their use of artificial intelligence to improve energy efficiency and operational workflows.

Schneider Electric research indicates that adding an AI layer to existing building management systems can drive significant efficiency gains. In some scenarios, this technology has delivered energy reductions of up to 22%. For an average mid-sized commercial facility, these AI-enabled optimizations in areas such as HVAC could potentially avoid 60 metric tons of carbon emissions and save approximately 200 MWh of electricity annually.

Trane Technologies is also expanding its digital portfolio with new AI-driven tools. The company has introduced a Maintenance Manager platform designed to centralize equipment records, work orders, and repair histories to help facility teams make informed decisions regarding equipment repairs or replacements. Additionally, Trane is offering Cloud Analytics to identify performance trends and a Cloud Connected BACnet Thermostat to provide cloud-based management for light commercial buildings.
