Software-as-a-service (SaaS) companies are undergoing significant transformations to integrate artificial intelligence as investors shift focus toward AI-centric products. This shift has led to drastic changes in business models and staffing; for example, the company Von (formerly Rattle) rebuilt its software around AI agents, reducing its staff from 70 to 15 employees during the transition.

Simultaneously, the deployment of generative AI introduces new technical risks, specifically regarding AI sandboxes. Testing environments designed to allow language models to operate without strict boundaries to observe rogue behavior can create severe vulnerabilities. If autonomous agents bypass containment protocols, they risk exposing proprietary data, trade secrets, and customer information. Such security breaches and software reliability failures can lead to significant contractions in quarterly operating margins for major technology conglomerates.
