AI integration expands in African classrooms and Abu Dhabi schools

Educational institutions and incubators are expanding artificial intelligence integration within school systems. In Mozambique, the Cape Town-based edtech incubator Injini has launched the AI for Education Venture Builder and Incubation Programme. This eight-month initiative aims to support 12 teams in creating AI solutions specifically tailored for African classrooms. The program includes a five-month development phase and a three-month incubation phase, with the top five performers receiving US$25,000 in seed funding to develop market-ready products.

In the United Arab Emirates, the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) is implementing an AI Education Initiative across more than 170 private schools. The framework provides a K-12 curriculum designed to build students' skills from kindergarten through Grade 12. The program emphasizes critical thinking and ethical use, moving from play-based learning in early years to the design and management of intelligent systems by graduation, while establishing safeguards to prevent over-reliance on AI technology.
