AI integration expands in Japan's housing and search sectors

New developments in the Japanese housing sector highlight the growing integration of artificial intelligence in both consumer decision-making and industry marketing strategies.

Fuji Jutaku has implemented a new AI assistant feature within the “egaku” residential specification cloud service. This tool uses historical data to assist homeowners in selecting housing specifications through a chat interface, allowing them to receive recommendations and answers to questions at their own pace without immediate staff supervision.

Separately, a study by TechSuite Inc. through its “AI Search Partners” service analyzed how major AI platforms—including ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity—respond to queries regarding custom homes and house makers in Japan. The research, based on over 17,000 AI responses, found that AI recommendations tend to favor a small number of large national manufacturers, even when users specify local regions. The study also noted that AI models frequently cite third-party information sources, such as video platforms and housing portals, rather than official manufacturer websites.
