AI integration in business faces challenges of substance and structural transformation

Current corporate approaches to artificial intelligence often focus on superficial integration rather than fundamental transformation. Many organizations are engaging in what is described as the ‘AI Shuffle,’ where companies add AI tools, licenses, and oversight committees to existing workflows without changing underlying hierarchies, software architectures, or processes.

Experts suggest that true AI-first companies should focus on subtraction rather than addition. Instead of using AI to make inefficient processes slightly faster, organizations should identify which tasks and information flows can be eliminated entirely.

Furthermore, there is a significant lack of substance in professional discussions regarding AI procurement. Challenges remain in scoping, contracting, and measuring the technology, as many vendors and buyers struggle to define the actual value, liability, and accuracy of large language models.
