Artificial intelligence expands utility across law enforcement and corporate sectors
Artificial intelligence is being integrated across diverse sectors, ranging from law enforcement to corporate management, bringing both operational efficiencies and new risks.
In law enforcement, FBI Deputy Director Christopher Raia stated the bureau is using AI to accelerate threat detection, potentially reducing response times from weeks to minutes. The agency aims to target transnational criminal organizations while maintaining transparency regarding civil liberties.
In the corporate and recruitment sectors, AI is streamlining CV matching and candidate identification. However, experts warn of ‘epistemic de-skilling,’ where over-reliance on generative tools may weaken the practical wisdom and judgment of managers. Similarly, in recruitment for regulated industries like infrastructure, human oversight remains critical for maintaining trust and safety.
Technological advancements are also shifting toward ‘agentic AI’—systems designed to act autonomously rather than just generate content. While promising, research from Decodo suggests a gap between the marketing of these autonomous agents and their actual ability to handle business-critical tasks without error. In technical operations, AI is being utilized in AIOps workflows for automated incident remediation and in database development to manage increasing data volumes.
