AI integration reshapes film and advertising industries in Vietnam and China
The integration of artificial intelligence into the film and advertising industries is creating new production methods and economic opportunities in Asia. In Vietnam, AI is being utilized in various stages of production, including post-production, sound, and script development. For example, the film ‘Ho Linh Trang Si’ used AI to assist in refining the script. However, critics note that in Vietnam, AI is often used as a reactive solution to fix issues—such as adjusting an actor's face or voice—rather than as a consistent tool throughout the entire creative process.
In China, the rise of AI-generated short dramas and advertisements has led to a new service: “leasing” human faces. Because AI struggles to maintain consistent facial features and expressions across different scenes using only text prompts, producers are using real people's images as templates. Individuals can register their facial data on intermediary platforms, allowing producers to use their likeness to create digital characters for films, games, and digital content. This service has become lucrative, with some participants earning significant amounts for providing their facial data for short periods.
