AI integration sparks new authenticity standards in journalism and literature

The rise of artificial intelligence is prompting new standards for authenticity in both journalism and literature. In newsrooms, tools like the ADAM plugin are being developed to assist journalists with workloads while maintaining human decision-making power over news selection.

In the literary world, concerns regarding undeclared AI use have led to the emergence of 'human-written' certifications. At the Frankfurt Book Fair, verification systems from the UK, France, and Germany were showcased to address growing skepticism among authors. In France, the platform Librinova offers a certification process involving AI detection software and evaluator interviews to verify human creation. Similarly, the UK startup Books By People has launched a certification for 'organic literature,' registered with the UK Intellectual Property Office, which allows limited AI use for grammar and spelling but requires the core text to be human-authored.
