Ai Là Triệu Phú updates game show lifelines

The Vietnamese game show ‘Ai Là Triệu Phú’ updated two of its four lifelines in 2020 after 15 years of broadcasting. The changes replaced the ‘Ask the Studio Audience’ and ‘Ask the Local Advisory Group’ options with two new formats: ‘Ask a Companion’ and ‘The Wise Man’.

This adjustment was driven by both a long-term plan to refresh the show’s format and the immediate necessity caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Due to social distancing measures in Vietnam, the production team could not host large audiences in the studio. To ensure safety while maintaining the game's structure, the crew worked with UK-based experts holding the international rights to the ‘Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?’ format to implement these changes.

The ‘Wise Man’ lifeline introduces experts with deep knowledge in specific fields, while the new companion lifeline provides an alternative to the previous audience-based assistance.
