AI leaders Hoffman and Nadella warn of power concentration and operational turmoil

Reid Hoffman, co‑founder of LinkedIn and investor in OpenAI and Anthropic, criticised Elon Musk’s AI ventures, saying SpaceX is not an AI company and describing xAI as "a complete train wreck." He highlighted the departure of all original xAI co‑founders, ongoing performance gaps of the Grok model, and expressed concern over a U.S. export‑control action that targeted Anthropic but not OpenAI, calling the move unpredictable and risky for investors.

Microsoft chief executive Satya Nadella warned that AI should not become dominated by a handful of firms. In an interview, he urged the industry to develop lower‑cost models, expand user control, and ensure broader access, noting potential job disruptions and the need for “social permission” to maintain public trust. Nadella cited the possibility of hosting Chinese AI provider DeepSeek as a way to diversify the market and reduce reliance on a few dominant developers.
