New developments in AI long-term memory systems are emerging through specialized tools designed to enhance agent persistence and data retention.

Memcode has released the memcode/neuron-ai package, which provides durable long-term memory tools for Neuron AI agents. The toolkit allows agents to save, inspect, search, and retrieve memory across different conversations while keeping current chat histories intact. The package requires PHP 8.1+ and Neuron AI 3.x, utilizing API keys or OAuth access tokens for authentication.

Separately, the lossless-memory project by aru-labs offers an alternative approach to AI memory. Unlike systems that rely on summarization, this project focuses on keeping raw conversation logs in full with precise timestamps. This temporal-based system uses a combination of JSONL logs and SQLite to allow users to search by time and keywords, ensuring that exact utterances are preserved rather than compressed into summaries.
