Ai Ogura and MotoGP Vice CEO visit Japan Sports Agency
MotoGP Vice CEO Carlos Espartero and Japanese rider Ai Ogura visited the Japan Sports Agency ahead of the 2026 MOTUL Japanese Grand Prix, scheduled for October 2–4 at Mobility Resort Motegi.
During the meeting with Naoko Hirayama, Deputy Director-General of the Sports Agency, discussions focused on the importance of the Japanese Grand Prix, its contribution to international sports and tourism, and the positive impact of motorsports on local communities. Hirayama highlighted the value of such events for inspiring children and stimulating regional revitalization.
Ai Ogura, currently ranked 6th in the world championship, enters his home race following a historic season that included a podium finish at Le Mans and a victory at Assen, marking the first win by a Japanese rider in the premier class since 2003. Espartero emphasized Japan's significant role in the history and future of MotoGP, noting the country's strong manufacturer presence and dedicated fan base.
