Ai Ogura to miss San Marino MotoGP due to thumb injury

MotoGP rider Ai Ogura will miss the San Marino Grand Prix at Misano due to a continuing left thumb injury. The Trackhouse Aprilia rider, who underwent surgery in Spain following a motocross accident in Japan, has been advised by medical professionals to delay his comeback to ensure full recovery.

Trackhouse principal Davide Brivio stated that the team is following medical advice to wait at least one more week, with a potential return targeted for the Austrian Grand Prix at the Red Bull Ring. Because test rider Lorenzo Savadori is unavailable for this weekend, Raul Fernandez will be the sole representative for Trackhouse at the Misano circuit.

The injury has significant implications for Ogura’s championship standings. Before his injury, he had secured six podiums in seven races; he now sits in fifth place, trailing leader Jorge Martin by 53 points.
