AI and Real‑Time Tech Transform Retail Experiences
Retailers are turning to artificial intelligence to unify online and offline channels, personalize interactions and streamline operations. The shift aims to meet shoppers’ growing demand for instant, data‑driven service.
A survey by SAI of more than 1,000 shoppers found that 35 % feel physical stores lag behind the speed of e‑commerce and AI, with the figure rising to 51 % among Millennials and 48 % among Gen Z. Three‑quarters of respondents say stores should adapt in real time—through queue management, stock allocation or labour adjustments—and 60 % claim retailers still have “blind spots” on the shop floor.
In Australia, 69 % of shoppers now prefer self‑service checkout and 97 % of retailers link it to revenue growth, according to IDC research. About 30 % of retailers report a revenue uplift of 21‑30 % from self‑service, while a third of shoppers will walk away if the experience is poor.
