AI political preferences analyzed ahead of Saxony-Anhalt elections
Ahead of regional elections in Saxony-Anhalt, the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ) conducted an analysis of the political leanings of various artificial intelligence models. Using the Wahl-O-Mat tool, which provides political theses developed by the Federal Agency for Civic Education, journalists presented 38 questions to 19 different language models, including those from OpenAI, Google, Anthropic, Meta, xAI, and Mistral.
The study found that almost all tested models exhibited a higher degree of agreement with the positions of the Green Party, the SPD, and the Left Party compared to other political entities. Specifically, ChatGPT showed an 84 percent alignment with the Green Party, Anthropic showed 78 percent, and Google's Gemini showed 66 percent.
