AI productization challenges face information service providers
The Artificial Intelligence Foundation (AIF) has identified several critical challenges facing information service providers attempting to transition from labor-intensive models to AI-driven product development. Key obstacles include identifying viable markets, establishing sustainable pricing mechanisms, and overcoming the high costs of Proof of Concept (POC) projects, which are often treated by clients as free demonstrations rather than paid services.
Experts suggest that the industry must shift its focus from mere coding to understanding user needs and solving specific business problems. There is also a noted gap in professional training, as current engineering education often prioritizes system architecture over practical application. Furthermore, fluctuations in hardware costs have impacted profit margins for companies attempting to scale AI products.
To support this transition, experts recommend that governments move beyond providing subsidies and instead focus on creating market demand. By opening public sector domains—such as transportation, infrastructure, and state-owned enterprises—to AI integration, the government can provide the necessary orders to help companies validate and modularize their technologies for broader commercial use.
