AI prompts used to optimize Android and Google TV performance
A new method using artificial intelligence is being used to optimize Android TV and Google TV devices by removing bloatware and advertisements. Turkish developer Mert Cobanov shared an innovative approach that utilizes Large Language Models (LLMs), such as Claude, to streamline the user experience.
The process involves using the Android Debug Bridge (ADB) to connect the television to a computer. By providing a specific prompt to an AI agent like Claude Code, users can execute a series of commands to uninstall unnecessary preinstalled applications and Google services that typically slow down the hardware. This method is described as simple, reversible, and requiring no advanced technical expertise.
Smart TVs often suffer from performance issues due to preinstalled apps, background services, and advertising layers that consume limited RAM. While manufacturers increasingly monetize home screens with AI-driven features and advertisements, this debloating technique aims to restore device fluidity and improve privacy by limiting tracking and removing non-essential software packages.
