AI research and ethics initiatives expand through new partnerships and technical training
The International Centre for AI Research and Ethics (ICAIRE) has signed two Memoranda of Understanding in Riyadh to advance AI research and education. These agreements, made during the fourth UNESCO Global Forum on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence, involve King Abdulaziz University’s Centre of Research Excellence in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science (AIADS) and the Collaborative Laboratory for Uncertainty Management in the AI Age (CUMAAI).
The partnership with King Abdulaziz University aims to strengthen scientific research and data science applications, while the agreement with CUMAAI focuses on developing a foundational framework for academic degree programs in AI ethics. These initiatives seek to address the ethical and epistemological challenges posed by rapid AI development.
In Karachi, the Institute of Business Administration’s Centre for Information and Communication Technologies (IBA CICT) conducted a technical workshop focused on AI agents for engineers. Led by Dr. Faisal Iradat, the session provided hands-on training in the architecture, deployment, and governance of intelligent agents. The workshop utilized tools such as LangChain, LangGraph, and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) to demonstrate how AI systems can be integrated into enterprise workflows and multi-agent coordination.
