AI reshapes journalism training and newsroom operations

EL ESPAÑOL's Master in Journalism launches its fourth edition on October 5, adding a new "Employability + Debate" module that emphasizes critical thinking, debate and the use of artificial intelligence. The program, which includes seven‑month internships at EL ESPAÑOL and features experts such as María Peral and Luis Ezcurra, aims to strengthen journalists’ ability to question, analyze and reflect on information.

Protecmedia has published a strategic paper titled "Hybrid newsroom" for media CEOs and editors. The document argues that AI will not replace journalists but will require a redesign of the newsroom operating system. It proposes a three‑layer framework – mechanical, orchestration and trust – illustrated with eight case studies from international outlets, addresses the forthcoming EU AI Act article 50 transparency obligations, and offers practical tools such as a five‑step roadmap and a self‑assessment of AI‑agent maturity.
