AI reshapes search and ends hashtag era for social platforms
Mexican companies are overhauling their internal processes to adapt to AI‑driven search habits. With about 31 % of users in Mexico accessing tools such as ChatGPT monthly, firms are implementing Answer Engine Optimization (AEO) to make their data readily interpretable by generative models. The shift enables continuous customer queries, prompting greater automation through CRM systems and workflow tools.
At the same time, major social platforms are reducing reliance on traditional hashtags. Instagram’s head Adam Mosseri says hashtags now aid categorisation but not distribution, while X (formerly Twitter) has banned hashtags in advertising, citing its AI‑powered Grok engine’s ability to understand content without them. Meta’s Threads limits tags to a single “topic tag” per post. These changes reflect broader AI‑enabled semantic search and social SEO trends that are reshaping how content is discovered and promoted online.
