AI search skills demand rises in SEO job market

A recent analysis of SEO job postings indicates a significant rise in the demand for AI search skills. Research conducted on 690 unique SEO job postings in North America as of August 2026 found that 62.2% of listings explicitly include AI search requirements.

This represents a substantial increase from the previous year, when only 34.21% of 643 analyzed job postings mentioned these skills. The growth is attributed to the emergence of the answer engine optimization (AEO) industry and increased usage of large language models (LLMs) for generating pipeline value.
