India's IT Industry Generates $10‑12 Billion from AI Services

A recent NASSCOM report estimates that India's technology services sector is already earning between $10 billion and $12 billion annually from artificial‑intelligence (AI) services. Roughly 25 % of Indian IT firms have progressed from AI pilots to production‑grade deployments. The report projects that Agentic AI could unlock an additional $300 billion‑$400 billion in technology‑services opportunities by 2030, spanning legacy modernisation, AI operations, cybersecurity and governance. It also notes a structural shift in the industry's growth model: future expansion will rely less on headcount growth and more on platforms, domain‑specific solutions, proprietary IP and outcome‑based delivery. Business‑process services are expected to evolve from routine transaction handling to intelligence‑led operations, with human workers focusing on supervision, exception management, analytics and decision support as AI automates repetitive tasks.
