Paolla Oliveira exposes surge of AI‑generated sexual deepfakes in Brazil

Actress Paolla Oliveira disclosed that criminals have used artificial‑intelligence tools to create pornographic videos and images featuring her face without consent. She described the experience as “vexatious” and said the videos caused her to freeze in shock. A study by the NetLab laboratory at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro identified 198 fraudulent ads using her image over three months, with 191 directing users to private messaging groups where hundreds of deepfake porn videos are sold.

Oliveira highlighted that the technology now allows anyone with a single photo to generate hyper‑realistic sexual content, turning deepfakes into a “commodity on the shelf.” Legal reforms have increased penalties for gender‑based violence committed with AI, aiming to curb the spread of such non‑consensual content. Technology expert Kenneth Corrêa explained that modern deepfake tools rely on neural networks that map facial biometrics and can be operated with a click, making the abuse scalable and difficult to control.

The actress urged greater public awareness and stronger societal response, noting that many women and girls face similar violations and often lack resources to pursue legal action.
