AI Smart Glasses Evolve: Oakley Marks Year, Meta Unveils New Concepts
Oakley celebrated the first anniversary of its Oakley Meta line, a family of AI‑enabled sport glasses that combine voice control, built‑in cameras and artificial‑intelligence features. Over the past twelve months the range has expanded with new frames such as the Meta HSTN and Meta Vanguard, added colour options and deeper personalization, underscoring the brand’s shift toward connected eyewear for cycling and other activities.
Meta (the company behind Facebook) has announced a prototype of its own AI glasses that would continuously capture audio and video to build contextual awareness, allowing users to ask questions about recent conversations, objects or locations without manually providing details. The design promises hands‑free assistance but raises substantial privacy concerns regarding the storage and handling of recorded data.
Both developments highlight a broader industry move toward integrating artificial‑intelligence capabilities into everyday eyewear, pointing to a future where glasses function as persistent, context‑aware assistants.
