AI smart glasses manufacturers shift focus to specialized functionality
The AI smart glasses market is undergoing a strategic shift as manufacturers move away from all-in-one feature sets toward specialized designs that prioritize weight, comfort, and specific use cases. Recent product launches from companies including Qianwen, XGIMI, Dayan Orange, and Lawaken demonstrate a trend of 'subtraction,' where devices focus on only two of three core functions: photography, display, or intelligent audio/recording.
Qianwen’s N1 series focuses on photography and AI intelligence by removing the display module to reduce weight. Conversely, XGIMI’s MemoMind One prioritizes display and AI intelligence, opting for a camera-free design to address social privacy concerns. Dayan Orange’s Q1 focuses exclusively on audio intelligence, removing both cameras and displays to achieve a lightweight 28-gram frame optimized for meeting transcription and note-taking.
Lawaken’s X-AI memory glasses also emphasize recording and intelligence, offering real-time translation for 128 languages and up to 12 hours of continuous recording. While some models like Lawaken’s allow for an optional camera module, the industry trend suggests that reducing complexity is essential to making AI glasses wearable for daily use rather than remaining niche gadgets.
