AI tools for medical documentation launched by Optim and pipon

Japanese technology companies are introducing new generative AI features designed to reduce the administrative burden on medical professionals.

Optim has launched a new function for its ‘OPTiM AI Hospital’ service that automatically generates medical history summaries. By analyzing clinical records, test results, and prescription histories stored in electronic health records, the AI produces drafts that can be used for discharge summaries and medical information provision. The feature has already been implemented at Oda Hospital to help standardize the granularity of medical summaries.

Separately, pipon has added a ‘Minutes Mode’ to its ‘VoiceChart’ AI medical charting service. This feature is designed to automate the transcription and drafting of minutes for hospital conferences, committees, and training sessions. Unlike general-purpose AI transcription tools, VoiceChart is specifically built to handle sensitive medical information, aiming to relieve staff of the manual task of recording multi-disciplinary discussions such as cancer boards and safety committees.
