AI tools match doctors in diagnosis and help plan healthy meals
Researchers publishing in *Nature* described two advanced artificial‑intelligence systems, MIRA and AMIE, that can perform many steps of patient care. MIRA was tested on more than 500 emergency‑department cases, achieving an average diagnostic accuracy of about 88 % compared with roughly 78 % for a panel of six physicians. AMIE, built on Google’s Gemini models, was evaluated against 21 primary‑care doctors across 100 virtual patient scenarios covering five specialties using UK clinical guidelines; it performed on par with or better than the physicians in ordering tests, recommending treatments and reasoning about medications.
In a separate development, AI‑driven chat platforms are being used to support nutrition and cooking. Services such as Use AI let users ask for healthy recipes, ingredient nutrition, weekly meal plans and dietary advice, providing instant, structured answers that aim to reduce the time spent searching online and to help users maintain balanced eating habits.
