CEOs Warn AI Ambitions Outpace Business Readiness

A Cisco survey of 2,500 chief executives in 23 countries finds that 91% are more optimistic about artificial intelligence than a year ago, but 65% fear their organisations are under‑investing. Executives see AI as a board‑room priority and consider adoption essential for competitiveness, yet more than half identify legacy infrastructure as the biggest barrier. Security concerns and fragmented, low‑quality data also rank among the top obstacles to scaling AI. While CEOs expect AI to augment decision‑making—72% say humans will still lead decisions by 2030—the study warns that execution lags behind ambition, urging firms to modernise networks, centralise data and strengthen governance to realise AI’s commercial potential.
